In recognition of the vital importance of horticulture in beautifying and enhancing the King Khalid International Airport facilities, a plant nursery was established on-site in 1981. Spanning an area of 160,000 square meters, it includes eight separate greenhouses and a dedicated 70,000 square meter space for horticulture, producing hundreds of varieties of plants.

Producing over one million trees, 700,000 flowers and 250,000 seedlings annually, the garden plays a critical role in reducing the temperature within the airport. Moreover, the airport terminals include 550,000 plants, which are cared for using the latest methods and technology available in irrigation and agriculture.

Today, the garden is self-sufficient, producing all the required plants and vegetation for the terminal and surrounding areas thanks to its breeding program, managed by a team of professionally trained and qualified agricultural engineers.
