Riyadh Airports Company (RAC), which manages and operates King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh, has announced that KKIA has obtained the globally recognized Airport Carbon Accreditation - Level 3 'Optimisation' from the ACA program, to become the first airport in Saudi Arabia to obtain this level of the accreditation.
It reflects Riyadh Airports' commitment towards environmental sustainability and pollution reduction in the Saudi aviation sector with engaging stakeholders in these endeavors. It also affirms how RAC is keen to apply best standards and practices to reduce emissions, launch green initiatives, and include this approach in the company's policies and objectives, responding to Climate Change.
Airport Carbon Accreditation is a global program launched in 2009 to assess the efforts of airports around the world to manage and reduce their carbon emissions. KKIA obtained the Airport Carbon Accreditation - Level 1 in late 2021, Level 2 in 2022, then Level 3 this year after completing the program's requirements.
