King Khalid International Airport and Cathay Pacific Airlines:
Regular Flights Now Operating Between Riyadh and Hong Kong

King Khalid International Airport, managed and operated by Riyadh Airports Company, has announced the launch of a partnership with Cathay Pacific to operate regular flights between Riyadh and Hong Kong, with three flights per week starting October 28, 2024.
In this context, Ayman bin Abdulaziz Abouaba, CEO of Riyadh Airports Company, stated that this launch is part of the joint efforts between Riyadh Airports Company and the Air Connectivity Program to strengthen air transport links between the capital’s airport and additional international destinations. This aligns with their commitment to supporting the national objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He added that this commitment highlights Riyadh Airports’ dedication to pursuing the best partnerships that support various strategic aspirations being realized today. He emphasized that this collaboration will help create and enhance mutual opportunities with one of the most prominent Asian destinations of our time.
For his part, Majid Khan, CEO of the Air Connectivity Program, said:
“The launch of direct flights between Hong Kong and Riyadh with Cathay Pacific will enhance Saudi Arabia’s air connectivity network with key markets to attract inbound tourism. Travelers from Hong Kong and Cathay Pacific’s network, including Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, will now have the opportunity to explore Saudi Arabia’s vast tourism potential. We look forward to developing our joint collaboration in the coming years.”
Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, also expressed her enthusiasm, saying:
“We are incredibly excited to launch direct passenger flights between Hong Kong and Riyadh. This new service will strengthen commercial and cultural ties between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia, while also providing greater connectivity for travelers from Saudi Arabia to Hong Kong and mainland China.”
Cathay Pacific has selected the A350-900 aircraft to operate this route between Hong Kong and Riyadh. The aircraft offers a seating capacity of 280 passengers per trip, with three flights scheduled weekly in each direction.
