According to “Riyadh Airports” statistical reports, King Khalid International Airport has witnessed growth rates in the number of passengers and flights during the past year 2018, reflecting its ability to continue its positive performance in the upcoming years.
The report indicated that, the total number of departing and arriving passengers at King Khalid International Airport exceeded 26 million passengers, registering a growth rate of 5.53% compared to 2017, at a daily average rate of 72,932 passengers, with an increase of passengers on domestic flights by 8.39%, while the increase of passengers on international flights was 2.21% compared to 2017.
With regard to the flights, the report mentioned that the total number of flights reached 212.632 thousand flights at the end of 2018, registering a growth rate of 1.46% compared to 2017, at a daily average rate of 583 flights, with an increase of domestic flights by 5.55% compared to 2017, while the increase in international flights reached 3.43% compared to the same period.
King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is one of the most visited domestic destinations from King Khalid International Airport in terms of the number of departing and arriving passengers during 2018, indicating that the increase rate in the total number of passengers was 4.93% compared to 2017, and the increase rate in the number of flights was 2.81%.
Whilst on the international level, Dubai International Airport recorded the highest number of departing and arriving flights from King Khalid International Airport with a 16% increase in the total number of flights, with a total increase of passengers by 11% compared to 2017.
In the third quarter of 2018, King Khalid International Airport jumped 58 places to be ranked the 93rd best airport among all international airports at all categories, the airport has made a new record of passengers’ satisfaction with the quality of services provided which was 4.45 out of 5 points, and ranked sixth among the international airports in the category of all airports with a capacity of 25 to 40 million passengers, according to the Airports Council International (ACI) assessment.
And in terms of on-time performance, King Khalid International Airport has been ranked 11th in the world’s on-time performance (OTP) for large airports in 2018, in a report issued by the Official Airlines Guide (OAG) website, and the (OAG) report stated that KKIA is among the top 20 international large airports in terms of (OTP) in departures and arrivals.
“Riyadh Airports” Company, which manages and operates King Khalid International Airport, launched during the last year a package of services and development projects, as well as signing a number of agreements to enhance the quality of services provided to the passengers at King Khalid International Airport.
