King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh has been awarded the 'Airport Health Accreditation' (AHA) by the Airports Council International (ACI), another milestone in its global achievements. The accreditation was awarded after KKIA introduced new Covid-19 pandemic-related health measures and procedures to ensure the health and safety of all workers and passengers traveling via Riyadh airport, making it one of only two airports in the region to achieve this recognition.
“Riyadh Airports" Company CEO Eng. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Maghlouth emphasized that this global achievement strengthens KKIA's global strategic location. “Riyadh Airports" has been diligent, since the resumption of both domestic flights and the international flights authorized exclusively for certain groups, to apply and follow all approved precautionary measures and health procedures in accordance with the instructions of the Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Health, while prioritizing the comfort of travelers by providing a safe and pleasant travel experience. “Riyadh Airports" , in conjunction with all its partners at KKIA, has worked to operate all arriving and departing flights at a high operational efficiency, develop an integrated mechanism for traveler arrival stages, and regulate the movement of travelers in the terminals to smoothly conduct medical checks through thermal cameras."
Al-Maghlouth explained that this health accreditation was obtained after committing to the application of the highest preventive measures and procedures from the very beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, demonstrating “Riyadh Airports" uncompromising efforts to providing a safe and healthy travel experience for all passengers at KKIA.
The AHA Program requires strict commitment to the health and well-being of travelers, employees, and the public, along with stringent Covid-19-related health procedures applied in airports, and continually evaluates the measures introduced. Assessment areas include strict cleaning and disinfection practices, the promotion of physical distancing across redesigned staff and passenger facilities, employee protection, and effective communication with passengers.
