“Riyadh Airports” inaugurated the Model Cargo Village in the support area at King Khalid International Airport, under the sponsorship of His Royal Highness Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud, the Governor of Riyadh Region, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Transport Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, His Excellency the President of GACA, Mr. Abdulhadi bin Ahmed Al-Mansouri, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Riyadh Airports” Dr, Mansour Abdulaziz AlMansour, and the CEO of the company Eng. Mohammed Abdullah AlMaghlouth.
In a speech delivered by His Excellency The Minister of Transport, Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the Privatization of the Transportation Sector, Saleh AlJasser, in which he emphasized on the importance of achieving the goals of Vision 2030 through implementing initiatives that support the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program. He also added: “ "The Kingdom has become one of the most developed and attractive global markets for major international companies; as it is keeping pace with the development process that extends to all aspects of life, and by 2030 - the Kingdom aims to be a logistical and advanced platform, as it aims to be ranked 25 globally and 1st regionally, as it is ranked 49 globally now”.
HE also said that, the village will enhance the operational efficiency in the shipping sector, and improve the process of logistical integration on the national and international level; in a way that enhances the Kingdom’s position and makes it a unique regional logistical center, thus it is going to get benefits from its strategic geographical location as a link center for the three continents.
HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz also inaugurated the opening of the new cargo building for the Saudi Logistics Services Company (SAL), which is considered as the first operator and the main gateway for shipping in the Kingdom's airports. In which has the largest share of the village area and an operating capacity of 600,000 tons annually. As well as, the building of Naqel Express with an operating capacity of 40,000 tons annually.
During the ceremony, the license were granted for the building of the Singapore company (SATS), to serve the shipping at King Khalid International Airport and start its construction work, and KKIA was represented by HE the President of GACA, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SAVC Mr. Abdulhadi bin Ahmed Al-Mansouri, while the Singapore company was represented by the CEO Mr. Yacoub Piperdi. Also, this project is considered as one of the privatization and partnership projects between the public and private sectors.
