King Khalid International Airport Launches Direct Route to Beijing Operated by Air China
Riyadh, May 6, 2024
King Khalid International Airport, managed and operated by Riyadh Airports Company, has announced the launch of a new direct route connecting Riyadh to the Chinese capital, Beijing. The route will feature three weekly flights operated by Air China, starting from May 6.
Riyadh Airports stated that this new launch reflects the company's commitment to enhancing direct air connectivity between the Kingdom and China. This effort aims to enable more Chinese tourists to visit the Kingdom to explore attractive tourist destinations and discover existing investment opportunities, aligning with the company’s contributions to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Riyadh Airports also highlighted that this collaboration with Air China is a result of the outstanding achievements made by Riyadh Airports. Among these is King Khalid International Airport’s receipt of the "Welcome Chinese" certification in July of last year, which has strengthened the success potential of this partnership.
The company added that this launch contributes to the future objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy, which aims to increase air connectivity to more than 250 destinations across 29 airports, improve airport infrastructure and operations, and enhance competitiveness through fair competition, competitive pricing globally, and the establishment of regulatory frameworks for operations at both international and local levels.
It is worth noting that Air China, headquartered in Beijing, is the national carrier of the People’s Republic of China. It operates a fleet of approximately 485 aircraft, making it the fourth-largest airline in Asia.
